The Elms: building the UK’s first women-only detox centre

Right now, there is no dedicated women-only detox centre in the UK.

For many women affected by drug or alcohol use, including survivors of trauma, domestic abuse, and women with caring responsibilities, mixed-gender detox environments can feel unsafe or inaccessible. As a result, too many women delay treatment or miss out on support altogether.

The Elms will change that.

The Elms is the UK’s first women-only, medically managed detox centre, being created by Via — a charity with more than 30 years’ experience supporting people affected by substance use.

Designed with and for women, The Elms will offer:

Specialist medical detox care
Psychologically informed, trauma-aware support
A safe, calm, women-only environment
Outdoor and therapeutic spaces that support healing and dignity

We’ve secured the building.
We have the clinical expertise.
Now we need your support to bring The Elms to life.
