Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Jackson Mandago has underlined his stance that merit should prevail in job appointments.
H.E Mandago said this in Eldoret as he arrived from Nairobi. He had gone to help in inquest of Moi University's Vice Chancellor's appointment.
During his arrival-where tens of thousands of North Rift residents filled Eldoret town-the County Chief maintained that results of a past interview should be upheld.
"We are not relenting on this because the Constitution spells out that people who are qualified carry the day," he said.
"An interview was done and there was a winner. Our only issue is why the results have not been effected.”
H.E Mandago condemned critics that had termed the North Rift leaders as tribal. "North Rift has all tribes and we uphold peace. The only thing we are asking is that results of the interview be used, that is not being tribal.
He asked the media to avoid twisting statements.
