HEDGEHOG FACTS🦔- How to Get Rid of Rats🐀 at the feeding place

Hello dear hedgehog friends 🙋‍♂️, today it's about rats at the feeding place

Anyone who feeds hedgehogs or birds knows that sooner or later one or the other rat will come by in the garden and collect leftover food that the birds have dropped. Even if you have collecting trays under the feeding columns, some food will always fall next to it or the rat will eat the hedgehog's food.

This year I also had a problem with rats🐀 at the feeder and I had to come up with something. 😱

☝️ I found 3 ways to get rid of the rats, poison bait, snap traps or live traps.

👉 Poisoned baits were out of the question for me, as they could also be eaten by other animals, and the hedgehog might eat one of these poisoned animals.

👉 I didn't want to set any snap traps either, as other animals could also fall into the trap here, including hedgehogs.

👉 The third possibility and for me the best solution, which also worked well for me, was to set up a large live trap.

Of course, other animals besides rats can also be caught in this trap, which has also happened to me, but I was able to release these animals again unharmed.
I set the trap during the day until late evening and put it away at night to minimize the risk of a hedgehog being caught in it.
Little by little I was able to catch the rats at the feeding station, sometimes it took 2-3 days until I caught one again, but in the end I was rid of them.
As bait in the trap, I used hedgehog food, which the rat loves. Even the cat would have liked to eat this good food.
The slider is triggered via a seesaw in the trap.
All the rats I caught were released at a forest.
