The first of 83 Airo trainsets for Amtrak has finally departed the Siemens Mobility plant and is now bound for TTCI in Pueblo, CO as train 964 to begin year long testing period. This first trainset intended for service on the Cascades route is joined by the Pacific Bend sleeper, a Viewliner bag/dorm, and the Metroliner Conference car with officials from Amtrak and Siemens on board.
As for plant updates, nothing much new is visible outside at the moment. The final VIA trainset is currently in the process of being coupled, the second Cascades ALC-42E is mostly complete and undergoing tests, and a body shell for a Ontario Northland unit is inside the final assembly building.
