Everything I Did In Japan (Tokyo & Hakone)

Here’s a quick snapshot of almost everything I did in Japan assuming I did remember to take footage. Spent a couple days in Tokyo with a short trip to Hakone & Kamakura. Overall, I really enjoyed the trip and found some good and some bad.

THINGS I LIKED! 👍

TT KOKUSAI

If you are a ping pong enthusiast, you will love this place. There are no shops like this in the US and it’s really cool to see basically any and everything you need for table tennis. Prices are also really, really good for blades. The rubbers are well priced here too but I believe you can find cheaper on online stores. I ended up getting a blade + two rubbers and some shoes.

KAMAKURA MUSIC BOX MUSEUM

Another thing that we randomly walked into because we wanted to get matcha. This place is definitely worth a look with so, so many different types of music boxes. If you’re looking for a little souvenir or gift for a friend, this is it.

GINZA SNEAKER HILLS

I was killing some time and just browsing around the lower levels of this floor when I saw a sign for this sneaker area. It’s on the 8F and a really cool experience where they have 4 sections that cover different aspects of sneaker culture.

UENO MENYA MUSASHI BUKOTSUSODEN

Stumbling upon by accident when visiting Ueno St (my favorite area). It was a restaurant with a long line and honestly had no idea what it was but we decided to wait and it was so worth it. Probably the best dipping ramen I’ve had.

ASAKUSA GYUKATSU

This was highly rated on Google but what you learn later is basically they ask you to write a google review at the end so that’s why their reviews are so high. I did interact with a chinese waiter named Song who was pretty cool to ask his story but other than that I quite literally could not finish that meal.

築地まぐろ問屋 (aka I can’t even find this in english)

Got coerced by random small tiny japanese lady to the worst sushi I have ever had. Felt like it was like plastic in my mouth and no wonder they have to have some lady get people into this shop. Stick with whatever is popular in the fish market because sometimes there’s a reason why there’s no people there. I’d rather eat at McDonalds than this place.
