Time lapse of me making a thumb-size ring out of exotic hardwood veneers. It was around this time last year that I made a ring out of a silver quarter, so I figured I would fire up the old ring-making machine and try out a different medium.
Ultimately, I would call this project a mixed success. The ring ended up being oversized and a little too bulky to be worn comfortably. That being said, the edge grain pattern the turned out stunningly beautiful. I'm really happy with it, just as a conversation piece.
If I decide to revisit this project, I would probably glue up fewer layers in hopes of reducing the overall bulkiness of the ring.
