Shoot for Cystinosis 2023 Decew Gun Club

In conjunction with the Decew Gun Club and the Niagara Peninsula Pistol Club, Destination Church hosted the 6th annual "Shoot for Cystinosis" on Saturday July 15th 2023.

Their purpose is to raise funds and bring awareness to the horrible challenges of children living with Cystinosis. When they pioneered this event, they did so on behalf of a 9 year old St. Catharines girl, the only known case in the Niagara Region, living with this rare, incurable disease that slowly destroys the organs in the body. Since then she has grown into a lovely young lady who doesn’t want to be defined by her disease. In light of this they have renamed the event to the “Shoot for Cystinosis” to highlight the disease and help all the young children afflicted by this disease. Children with Cystinosis are often consigned to growth hormone injections, eye drops hourly, and up to 35 additional doses of medications each day. Cystinosis is a disease so rare that it affects only 2,000 children worldwide.

A large percentage of money for research comes directly from donations and fundraisers and all money raised will be donated to the “Cystinosis Research Foundation” to fund ongoing research for a cure. Every dollar raised at the event will go directly to research.
In 2019, the Charity Shoot raised over $15,000. In the last four years of the event through the combined efforts of people and businesses like yours, they have been able to raise over $41,000 for Cystinosis Research.

The Shoot was open to all in the community (adults and children alike) and the majority of the people attending were from the Niagara Region and the surrounding areas.
