Balance 526 Sailing Catamaran Hull #7: An Exterior Walk Around

Du Toit Yacht Design are the yacht designers responsible for many of the Balance Catamaran range, including the Balance 526 Sailing Catamaran.


Balance 526 Hull #7, Vingilótë, was launched late in 2019. Just before she left for the Caribbean, and we had a brief chance to film a look around her aft cockpit, desk, rigging systems and deck while she was tied up to the dock in Hout Bay Harbour in Cape Town.


The Balance 526 reaches top speeds of over 20 knots, fully laden, without being hard-pressed. She is designed to be strong and to able to stand up to very bad weather, but she is also light. She is built using a combination of E-glass, carbon fibre, closed cell foam, composite bulkheads and the entire laminate structure is epoxy. She has fully retractable dagger boards and is designed for short-handed sailing in comfort and safety. Her lines are elegant and gracious with a practical, comfortable yet luxurious, interior.Her mast is manufactured by Sparcraft Masts in Cape Town and her sails are manufactured by Ullman Sails South Africa.
