Amtrak Keystone Corridor: Spring 2025 Operations

As spring makes it's way into central Pennsylvania, we took the opportunity to capture action on the Amtrak owned portion of the Keystone Corridor, between Harrisburg and Philadelphia. On this line, Amtrak operates two PennDOT state-supported services: The Keystone Service, operating between Harrisburg, Philadelphia and New York, and the Pennsylvanian, operating between Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and New York.

The majority of this video showcases footage of various Keystone Service trains and their current consists: one ACS-64, four Amfleet I coaches, and a former Metroliner EMU cab car. Throughout the early 2020s, Amtrak began planning and expediting suitable replacements for the fifty plus year old Amfleets, which have been the backbone of Amtrak's operations. Sometime in 2026, new Siemens built "Airo" train sets are scheduled to begin operations on several Amtrak services nationwide, including the Keystone Service and Pennsylvanian. Once the "Airo" sets enter revenue service, it's only a matter of time before both the Metroliner cab cars and several Amfleets are retired.
