ઈર્વિન કરાર પછી સરદાર તો કરાર પ્રમાણે ખેડૂતોને મહેસુલ ભરાવામાં પડી ગયા... આ દરમિયાન ઘણી મુશ્કેલીઓ આવી... સરદાર ગાંધીજી પર થોડા ખીજાયેલા જ રહ્યા કેમકે જેમ જેમ મુશ્કેલી પડતી હતી તેમ તેમ તેઓ ક્યારેક ગાંધીજી પર ક્રોધે ભરાતા હતા... આ બધી સમસ્યા વચ્ચે 1931ના ઓગસ્ટના અંતમાં ગોળમેજી પરિષદ માટે ગાંધીજી લંડન જતા રહ્યા..
