In order to sound like we’re “playing the changes” in our improvisation, it’s important to be hitting chord tones on downbeats. In this lesson I demonstrate how using regular major scales to solo causes us a BIG issue with hitting chord tones effectively , and two solutions to that problem, shifting your starting point and the bebop scale.
