In 1983, during the early years of the HIV/AIDS crisis, a group of nurses at San Francisco General Hospital established the first HIV/AIDS ward to care for victims of the disease.
The ward is the subject of a new documentary, “5B,” where Guy Vandenberg worked as a nurse. Vandenberg joined NBC OUT and THINK for a conversation with NBC OUT correspondent Brian Latimer.
