Located deep in Bhutan’s glacier-rich Eastern Himalayas, the village of Lunana (population: 56), an eight-day trek from the nearest road, is home to the world’s most remote school.
Pawo Choyning Dorji (producer of Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait, VIFF 16) follows thoroughly Westernized teacher Ugyen when he's sent to the school as punishment; his resultant very musical immersion in, and discovery of, his nation’s natural wonders and traditional culture is a treat for both the eyes and the ears.
In this post-screening Q&A, actor Tshering Dorji shares some fascinating details about filming in the remote village of Lunana.
