The Call for 2025 Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Farmer Grants is now available. Approximately $850,000 has been allocated to fund projects. Awards of up to $30,000 are available and proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on November 12, 2024.
Q&A Sessions are taking place alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October. Register once to attend any of the sessions.
Sessions will take place on: Oct 8, 16, 22, 30. from 12 to 1 EST
Northeast SARE Farmer Grant Administrator Candice Huber will be available to answer any questions potential grantees have about their 2025 Farmer Grant proposals.

Questions asked this session:
I would like to pay my technical advisor. They work for a university, and the university requires that the payment goes to the university and includes an indirect rate. How should I include this on my budget?
Should the whole budget be included even costs that will not be covered by the grant?
Will the budget cover equipment that is needed specifically for this project and no other crop?
Do reviewers expect proposals to have in-kind or matching funds?
Does a farmer need a SAM # to apply?
Can farmers access technical assistance from Northeast SARE to apply for the Farmer Grant?
What if you want to work with the community at large? As opposed to other farmers?
Can I submit a proof of concept proposal?
What if the project is going to extend beyond the grant period?
When is the completion date?
Can I have more than one technical advisor?
Can more than one technical advisor get paid for their effort?

I was awarded a partnership grant in 2024. Can I be a technical advisor to a 2025 farmer grant?
