This video explains the inclusive TIMES adaptation model, which is one of a few adaptation models used to outline the various aspects of physical activity participation that can be considered or adapted to facilitate inclusion, in particular the inclusion of people with disabilities.
This model in unique in that it includes 'Support' to indicate the broader contextual factors in a person's life that can either facilitate or hinder inclusive participation. These can include personal factors as well as factors in the physical and/or social environment like funding, resources and staff, transport and so on.
The Inclusive TIMES model was first conceived by the UFIT partnership. UFIT is short for Universal Fitness Innovation and Transformation and is a movement to inclusivize the fitness industry that began as an EU-funded Erasmus+ project and partnership.
The reason the model was conceived is because existing models designed for sport and physical education, which are widely used to great benefit, typically included Rules as a dimension which is not as relevant in the fitness sector.
