• Building a Backyard ADU in Denver | Full D...
In this video, we walk through the full insulation process on our ADU build in Denver - starting at the roof and working all the way down to the walls and garage ceiling.
The project begins with a spray foam install for a hot roof, creating a tight thermal envelope at the top of the structure. From there, we move on to fiberglass batt insulation, installed throughout the rest of the building:
R-11 batts in interior walls for sound control
R-21 batts in exterior walls for thermal performance
R-38 batts in the garage ceilings to meet insulation requirements
Once all the batts are in place, the entire assembly is sealed with a plastic vapor barrier, helping manage moisture and improve overall energy efficiency.
This video covers the materials, the sequence, and why different R-values are used in different parts of the building. If you’re planning an ADU, remodel, or just want to understand how modern insulation systems come together, this is a real-world look at how it’s done on an active job site.
This is part of our full start-to-finish documentary of building a two-bedroom Accessory Dwelling Unit in Denver, Colorado.
