My FIRST time performing

I have always been the type to turn my trauma into humor after healing from it! It has been a huge goal of mine to get on stage & give standup comedy a try. A big part of these podcasts will be facing your fears, becoming fearless & living life as authentic as possible. Breaking through the societal “norms” of every day life. So, it’s only right to show videos of ME doing JUST THAT!

I was not at all prepared to get up on this stage. I told myself no matter what I was getting up on that stage and if I bombed, I bombed & if I didn’t than great ! What you all do NOT HEAR in this video (I’ll post a short clip of it on here soon) was people chanting “NEXTTTTT, NEXT!!!!” during my performance any and every time I briefly paused. That was all that I could hear. As you can see there there are no walls, where I was performing was a restaurant/ bar outside on a patio deck. It is long in length from the stage. Since all I heard was the people sitting at the front tables, which were the ones yelling “NEXT” and only a few laughs from what seemed to be the comedians I figured was to make me feel less uncomfortable. I THOUGHT I DID HORRIBLE… After my set, while others were still performing the bartender said, “someone wants to buy you a drink”. To my surprise it was a girl my age, at the way opposite end of the bar (and stage location) and her parents. She goes “Congratulations!!! You did SO amazing” and I thought and replied, “You really think so?”. Her parents then say “YESS everyone back here was laughing!!” Ok, so I didn’t actually do that bad. In fact, after the other open mic sets finished & everyone was starting to walk out, I had so many people tapping me on my shoulder or shaking my hand saying “you did so great”. My neighbor Kat is the one who recorded my entire set which is super helpful because now i can look back to see what I really need to improve on.
