On February 17, 2024. An officer from the Oak Creek Police Department was on patrol when she noticed a vehicle swerving. She attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver (Omaira) continued driving. The officer advised dispatch that she was in a pursuit and Omaira pulled over shortly after. Omaira exited her vehicle and began stating that she did not speak English. The officer observed indicators of intoxication and also saw an open bottle of Heineken on the driver side floorboard. Omaira said that she did not have a license but was able to provide a photo ID card. A Deputy from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene and was able to translate. The front seat passenger also showed signs of intoxication and agreed to get dropped off at a local hotel. Omaira stated that she had never been pulled over before and did not know what to do. She also said that she thought the squad car was maybe an ambulance, so she did not pull over. A field sobriety test was conducted and officers determined that Omaira was intoxicated. She was placed in handcuffs and transported to jail and submitted to an evidentiary chemical test of her breath which showed a BAC of .12. An officer searched the vehicle and located multiple bottles of Heineken beer. The front passenger seat contained two open bottles. The front driver's floor area had an open bottle of Heineken as well, with a small amount of beer still left inside. There were four open Heineken bottles in the back passenger floor area. An open 100 milliliter bottle of Fireball Whiskey was also located in the center console. Omaira was found guilty for Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and ordered to pay $1240 in fees.
