Commonwealth Tile Factory in Feroke, Kozhikode, was established in 1905 on the banks of the Chaliyar river by Basel Evangelical Mission as a part of their Industrial activities in India. The products made in the factory have been a part of the tangible heritage of our country throughout this century.

ABOUT LOCHANA
Lochana- Heritage and Beyond is a collective initiative spearheaded by C-EARTH with the participation of various heritage enthusiasts who are well renowned in their respective fields. The word 'Lochana' means to illuminate. Through this social venture, we seek to shed some light on our fading heritage, which at present remains unknown to the public realm beyond the local vicinity through a series of video documentaries.

The purpose of this is to generate an authentic database and create public awareness about India’s rich heritage with a focus on Kerala at present, which includes architectural edifices, art forms, cultural practices, values, etc. that have evolved over time while engaging with the changing geographic, climatic, social and political setting.
