Grand Balcon Sud/Lac Blanc Run/Hike 🇫🇷 Chamonix 2024

I did this run for second/third acclimatisation before OCC@UTMB. Took #1 bus from Chamonix town centre to Les Praz. Took cable car from Les Praz to la Flegere (1877m) then change to ski lift to I'Index (2595m) - trailhead to Lac Blanc which is the most easiest way to access Lac Blanc. After that It's easy 3km hike up to beautiful Lac Blanc (2352m). 3km walk/run down back to la Flegere cable car station where u can have some snacks/drinks before you head to Grand Balcon Sud (means Balcony facing South) or take cable car back to Les Praz - then bus back to Chamonix for lunch - which is what we did.
On Day 3, we came back to la Flegere using bus/cable car combo to start Grand Balcon Sud. Even though it's a 6km run/hike, the route is more narrow and rocky than the last 2 days. But it offers great views of the high mountains on the side of the Chamonix Valley especially Mont Blanc (4809m) and the glaciers around it. You will finish at Plan Praz (2000m) where there are a few places for quick lunch. After that, you can take para-gliding or cable car back to Chamonix. We actually took another cable car up the top of Le Brevent (2525m) where there are best views of Chamonix and all the snow capped mountains around it. There's a small cafe but food was only average. Take cable car back down to Plan Praz and then Chamonix.
