Turning Custom Birdhouse For Avian Occupant

Most often our club's president's challenge is based on a recent club demonstration. Our demonstrator demonstrated a cute little birdhouse with three pieces: living quarters; roof section, and a perch welcome mat.

A mortise and tenon joint joins the living quarters and the roof. Then entrance and the perch are drilled into the side after rounding off the spindle.

The living quarters is maple about 2 inches long and 1.5 inches diameter. The roof is walnut about 2.5 inches long and 1.9 inches diameter. All finished with shellac.

The Ornament Challenge will begin accepting entries November 1st.
