Friends fish farm is the first farm in India which successfully bread arowna in captivity. They have more than 17 years of experience in scientific and hygienic breeding, hatching and rearing of fishes. The farm was started in 1995 culturing ornamental fishes. Now they expanded in to 15 hectors of earthen ponds in Keezhillam and Arakkuzha. They have 3 large breeding units each has more than 4000 square feet indoor area with well equipped modern laboratory and are scientifically designed with financial and technical support of Marine Products Export Development Authority of India (M P E D A)
Location
The farm is situated at keezhillam along MC road, 6 KM from Perumbavoor town. It is 20 KM away from Aluva and Angamaly railway station and 40 km away from Cochin port.
They mainly breeds, varieties of, gold, koi carp, gowramies,tiger shark, rainbow shark, succor fishes, cat fishes and ofcouse arowna (silver), varieties of cichlids like discuss, angels, Oscars, severums, convict cichlids, red devils, green terror, flower horn, green chromium, yellow chromium, not in very future we may breeding indigenous fishes like denisony channa stratus and merilius.

Alligator gar
The alligator gar (Atractosteus spatula) is a ray-finned euryhaline fish related to the bowfin in the infraclass Holostei.

It is the largest species in the gar family, and among the largest freshwater fish in North America.

Gars are often referred to as "primitive fishes", or "living fossils" because they have retained some morphological characteristics of their early ancestors, such as a spiral valve intestine, which is also common to the digestive system of sharks, and the ability to breathe both air and water.

The body of an alligator gar is torpedo-shaped, usually brown or olive, fading to a lighter gray or yellow ventral surface.

Arapaima
The arapaima, pirarucu, or paiche is any large species of bonytongue in the genus Arapaima native to the Amazon and Essequibo basins of South America.

They are among the world's largest freshwater fish, reaching as much as 3 m (9.8 ft) in length.

They have declined in the native range due to overfishing and habitat loss.

Due to its geographic ranges, arapaima's lifecycle is greatly affected by seasonal flooding.

Arowana
Arowanas are freshwater bony fish of the family Osteoglossidae, also known as bony tongues[1] (the latter name is now often reserved for Arapaimidae).

In this family of fish, the head is bony and the elongated body is covered by large, heavy scales, with a mosaic pattern of canals.

The name "bonytongues" is derived from a toothed bone on the floor of the mouth, the "tongue", equipped with teeth that bite against teeth on the roof of the mouth

The arowana is a facultative air breather and can obtain oxygen from air by sucking it into its swim bladder, which is lined with capillaries like lung tissue.
