With its forceful combination of deep black, bright yellow and crimson red, this monumental work embodies everything that Still stood for as an artist and was notably selected by Still himself for inclusion in his seminal 1959 exhibition Paintings by Clyfford Still. PH144 (1947-Y-No.1) leads a group of distinguished property from the Collection of Harry W. & Mary Margaret Anderson that will be offered in Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Auction.
