The Liebherr HS 8130.1 crawler crane was at Bauma 2025 and was outfitted with the LSC 8-20 slurry wall cutter. This crane is often seen setup for a deep foundation configuration or to support civil work. Whether it be with a slurry wall cutter featuring rotating wheels at the head (as shown), a slurry wall cutter with a clam shell bucket, a weight that gets dropped for dynamic compaction, an oscillator for piling/casing work, vibrator for piling work, impact pile driver, a standard clamshell, a dragline, or a standard crane setup the machine is very versatile. The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 130 tons and a max main boom length of 174ft. The reel on the “passenger” side of the unit is used to handle the bentonite hose that pumps bentonite and excavated material to an auxiliary tank system that would be located some distance away from the crane. Bentonite fluid is used to apply pressure back against the walls of the excavated shaft so the walls don’t collapse inward. The large reel on the driver side is used to manage the controls for the cutting head. The unit can excavate to a depth of 150m.
