Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection (PSP Version) - Genie Table Longplay -
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection is a pinball simulation developed by FarSight Studios and published by Crave Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable in 2005. The game features recreations of eleven classic Gottlieb pinball tables spanning from the 1930s to the 1990s, including Ace High, Central Park, Big Shot, Black Hole, Victory, and Tee'd Off.
Each table is rendered in 3D with authentic sound effects captured from the original machines, and the game includes historical information and artwork about each table. The PSP version supports both standard widescreen and vertical play modes, with the latter allowing players to use the triangle and X buttons as flippers for a more authentic perspective.
In this video I am playing the Genie table, a wide-body pinball machine originally released by Gottlieb in October 1979. Designed by Ed Krynski with fantasy-themed artwork by Gordon Morison, the table features an Arabian Nights jinn theme and was part of Gottlieb's System 1 series with a production run of 6,800 units.
The table is notable for its expansive wide-body layout featuring five flippers and an upper mini playfield in the top left corner. The main objective is building up the end-of-ball bonus value by hitting drop targets, rollovers, and spot targets throughout the playfield, with most scoring 1,000 points each up to a maximum of 29,000 points.
Genie was considered Gottlieb's answer to Bally's super wide pinball machine Paragon and marked the start of a "wider is better" pinball design competition in the late 1970s.
