Non surgical ablative therapy for benign disease of the uterine wall Hugo Verhoeven

Invited by the International Society for Reproductive Surgery（ISRS）, Professor Hugo Verhoeven, Chair of ESGE Non-Surgical Ablative Therapy of Benign Uterine Disease gave a lecture on 26 November 2021 titled “Non-surgical ablative therapy for benign disease of the uterine wall” in the ISRS Annual conference, which was hosted by St George's, University of London.

During his 40-minute talk, Professor Verhoeven shared his experience with HIFU. He got to know HIFU from APAGE board members in a meeting and got interested in this new technology.

He had been trained for a short period in Haifu hospital and was fascinated by the treatment experience there and the tele-medicine center developed by Chongqing Haifu which allows doctors in China to provide clinical support to centers worldwide.

He further analyzed the publications about HIFU and found that the side effects were quite low, while good effects were observed in the treatment of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, and the pregnancy outcome was also promising.
