Josef Seger (1716-82) was born in Bohemia and became one of the leading Czech composers of the eighteenth century. He was organist of the famous Týn Church in Prague for over 40 years, and many of his works are written for organ. This gentle fugue "of the time of nativity" conjures something of the intimacy and quiet joy of the Christmas Stable scene. It's played here on 8' and 2' flute stops of the Choir division.
