We went out on our first outside bouldering trip in Schwarzwald, Germany. We normally climb at our local indoor gyms, where we mostly climb around 6A. Last week we tried to go outside for the first time and went on a holiday to Schwarzwald, Germany into the bouldering area Waldeck and Felsenmeer.
A little explanation on the grade system: the most commonly used grading sytems for bouldering are the American V-scale and the French (Font) scale. these represent how hard it is to climb a boulder problem ranging from V0 (easy) to V17 (only a handfull of people can do it) or Font scale 4 to 9a (same principle). The font scale divides every number up into a, b, c and also add a + to every letter when it gets a little bit harder, so you get 6 grades per number, for example 6a, 6a+, 6b, 6b+, 6c and 6c+.
