Best wishes to you on Narasimha Chaturdashi! In this enlightening video, we delve into the rich mythology surrounding Lord Narasimha and his ardent devotee, Bhakta Prahlad. Narasimha Chaturdashi marks the auspicious day when Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, manifested on earth to protect his devout follower, Prahlad.
We start with the story of Rishi Kashyap's two sons, Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha. After Hiranyaksha's defeat by Lord Vishnu in his Varaha avatar, Hiranyakashipu, seeking revenge, performed intense penance and secured a boon from Lord Brahma, making him nearly invincible. With his newfound power, Hiranyakashipu oppressed the Brahmins and forced people to worship him instead of Lord Vishnu.
Despite his father's tyranny, Prahlad remained a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu's attempts to dissuade and harm Prahlad, including poisoning, drowning, and burning him, all failed due to Prahlad's unwavering devotion and Lord Vishnu's protection. In a final act of defiance, Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlad to prove Vishnu's omnipresence, resulting in Lord Narasimha's dramatic appearance from a pillar.
Narasimha, with a lion's head and a human body, emerged at twilight, neither inside nor outside the house, and killed Hiranyakashipu with his bare claws, thus fulfilling the conditions of the boon. This day is celebrated to honor Lord Vishnu's assurance of safeguarding his devotees.
On Narasimha Chaturdashi, devotees chant Lord Vishnu's names, fast until sunset, and read the story of Narasimha's incarnation. Evening aarti is performed, and food is offered to God before partaking.
Join us as we explore the devotion of Prahlad and the divine intervention of Lord Narasimha. Jai Siyaram!
