I am going to show how you can make a quartz crystal oscillator. Every amplifier can become an oscillator with a proper feedback circuit. At what frequency the oscillation can be seen depends on the frequency response of the feedback circuit. If a quartz crystal is used in the feedback, the oscillator will oscillate at the frequency set by the crystal. I am going to use a single MOSFET amplifier and use a 27 MHz crystal to make a stable oscillator at 27 MHz. I’ll also show how you can detect the oscillation using an FM radio.
