Tens of thousands of jobs have been lost in Mexico in 2025 amid uncertainty over potential US tariffs.
President Donald Trump has extended a pause on 30 percent levies on Mexican goods, but businesses remain unable to plan.
Factories, especially along the US border, have cut jobs or consolidated operations as investors hesitate.
In cities like Ciudad Juárez, long-time factory workers have been laid off and are taking any work they can find.
More than 60,000 factory jobs have disappeared since 2023, leaving job fairs largely empty.
Industry leaders warn Mexico’s heavy reliance on US exports has made border economies especially vulnerable.
