60103 Flying Scotsman reopens the Severn Valley Railway! 26/7/25

Today’s video is of world famous LNER A3 Class 4-6-2 60103 Flying Scotsman at the Severn Valley Railway! The Severn Valley Railway runs from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth via Bewdley, however a recent landslip near Hay Bridge meant that the Northern section of the line from Hampton Loade to Bridgnorth was impassable, and as such has been out of action for months. Thanks to a quick repair, the SVR were able to remedy the issue just in time for 60103 Flying Scotsman’s visit to the railway, and therefore 60103 was among the first few trains along this stretch of track. 60103’s visit coincided with the SVR’s ‘Swinging Sixties’ event, though due to fire risk every single train on Saturday other than 60103 was diesel hauled. The weather for the day was mostly sunny though with overcast intervals.

Initially I wasn’t planning to visit today as I was aware the SVR were planning to run 60103 as a token at the front of a class 20 hauled train. However, I received information the night before that this would no longer the case so I made a plan to go out for it. Because I was at work the day before, I preferred to not get up extremely early for 60103’s first run of the day, but I did come out for the last two. I left my local at 10:50, heading through Birmingham to Kidderminster, where I grabbed the 125 bus through to Eardington. The video first shows some stills of GWR 14xx Class 0-4-2 1450 and BR Standard 4 Class 4-6-0 75069 parked up at Bewdley Rock sidings. We then jump to Eardington where 60103 makes a storming run up the gradient towards Bridgnorth in the sun! After, I grabbed a 125 straight back to Bewdley and enjoyed a bit of time in the town before setting up at Tenbury Wall for 60103's last run of the day, where she opens up spectacularly past the camera! At that, I headed back to Kidderminster and then home.
