《生死恨》

北宋末年，金兵入侵，士人程鹏举和少女韩玉娘被金兵俘虏，发配到张万户家为奴，并在“俘虏婚姻”制度下结为夫妇。玉娘鼓励丈夫逃回故土，投军抗敌。她在丈夫逃走后，历尽磨难，流落尼庵，辗转重返故国。程鹏举因抗金有功，出任襄阳太守，后赖一鞋为证，得与玉娘重圆，但玉娘已卧病不起，憾然而逝。
　　《生死恨》剧本是根据京剧剧本重加整理而成。原剧本36场，删为19场，结局由团圆改为死别。《生死恨》较梅兰芳过去所拍的影片，各方面均有进步。他的圆润唱腔，优美身段，富有内心感情的眼神和面部表情，在银幕上别具魅力。特别是洞房、尼庵、夜诉、梦幻等场，表演深刻，传达了人物心理和性格。
　　影片用16厘米彩色影片摄制，再放大成35厘米标准影片。又因摄制时灯光不足，色温不稳定，缺乏拍摄彩色片的经验，以致影片的彩色不够理想；但它却是中国摄制的第一部彩色影片。

At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Jin soldiers invaded, and the scholar Cheng Pengju and the girl Han Yuniang were captured by the Jin soldiers, sent to Zhang Wan's family as slaves, and married under the "captive marriage" system. Yu Niang encouraged her husband to flee back to his homeland and join the army to resist the enemy. After her husband fled, she endured hardships and went to a nunnery to return to her homeland. Cheng Pengju was appointed as the Taishou of Xiangyang because of his meritorious service in resisting gold, and later relied on a shoe as a proof to reunite with Yu Niang, but Yu Niang was bedridden and died regretfully.
The script of "Life and Death Hate" is based on the script of Peking Opera. The original script had 36 scenes, which were deleted to 19 scenes, and the ending was changed from reunion to death. "Life and Death Hate" has improved in all aspects compared with Mei Lanfang's past films. His mellow singing voice, beautiful figure, eyes and facial expressions full of inner feelings are unique and charming on the screen. In particular, the performances of the cave room, nunnery, night complaint, fantasy and other scenes are profound, conveying the psychology and character of the characters.
The film was shot in 16 cm colour film and then enlarged to 35 cm standard film. Due to the lack of lighting during filming, the color temperature was unstable, and the lack of experience in shooting color films, the color of the film was not ideal. But it was the first color film made in China.
