Farmall H Transmission Input Shaft Seal and Bearing Replacement

After splitting the tractor in half in the previous video in the series, the leaking seals are replaced as well as one major bearing. The tractor is then re-connected at the transmission/torque tube housings. Sounds simple, and yes, it really is providing you have the tools to make it easy. Slow and steady wins the race, because working with parts and pieces that can cause severe bodily harm if they are mishandled will in fact put you in the hospital if the process is rushed needlessly. And besides, this really is no race anyway.... its just an old saying from some dead guy. There's no reason to strain when mechanical advantage can make the job easier. No one want to get a hernia during work OR play because the only guy that benefits from that is the local surgeon. I know...I've had a gut busted in the past and after the repair, the recovery is not a cake walk. A nice little 3/4 ton coffing hoist is used to gently and controllably slip the two halves back together without even breaking a sweat. Didn't even disturb the dog sleeping in the corner it went so smooth.
By the end of the video, the stage is set for the next video in the series and that is removing the heavy transmission cover in preparation for power washing the transmission and final drive sump. The amount of sludge that remained in the sump after the 4 gallon diesel fuel flush was way too great to be comfortable with.
