Soldering uses a metal alloy (often lead and tin) as well as flux to join two metal components.
The main goal of most soldering is to bond - create an electrical connection between components.
The soldering iron and solder that you use can impact the quality of the bond and can make it easier or more difficult to create a bond in the first place.
