In most sections of the Union Pacific Yuma Subdivision track speeds range from 55 to 70 mph. This makes it fun to watch trains zip by, but also challenging to chase trains. The video gives an impression of the different types of trains that travel on the Yuma Sub. The subdivision originates in its namesake city in Arizona and the tracks follow the San Andreas Fault through the Colorado Desert north to Rancho, CA located in the greater Los Angeles area. The Yuma Sub was once a section of Southern Pacific's famed Sunset Route. Whereas no signature passenger trains roam these desert and mountain regions anymore, UP makes up for it with powerful and fast freight trains in a peculiar yet amazing scenery.
