Project Motor Racing - "First Championship" Trophy/Achievements with Gamepad

Project Motor Racing has been released and it features quite a few challenging trophies/achievements. Here you can see how I was able to get the "First Championship" trophy by winning a championship in the "authentic" career mode, which disables restarts and forces the highest AI difficulty. I am playing with gamepad on PS5.

Many cars have less than ideal handling with gamepad in PMR, which can make it difficult to win against the authentic AI with them. However, I was able to find at least one car that feels almost perfect with pad. The Mosler MT900R in the N-GT class with TCS and ABS maxed out.

This car is insanely planted and stable. If all the cars were this controllable (and if assists were allowed in every mode), then this would actually be a nice gamepad game. This car shows that good gamepad handling is possible in general with the physics engine of the game. Unfortunately most cars just don't feel like this one.

As a championship I have picked the Italian N-GT trophy, which is a two race series on Monza and Imola. The game allows aggressive cuts over the curbs on both of these tracks (at least in the current version), so use that to your advantage.

You also get one bonus point for the championship standings for getting a pole position and for getting the fastest lap in a race.

The AI does not really make room for you, so be careful when trying to overtake it. If you go for an overly aggressive move it might not end well for you. Rather stay back and wait for a more safe opportunity to pass.

If you won the first race, then a lower position in the second race might be enough to win the championship, depending on who is in front of you, so pay attention to the driver names. In my case here I knew that 4th place in the second race would be enough, so I didn't take any risks.

The red lights at the start are not randomized like in F1. They have a predictable countdown, which can be seen in the top left of the screen, so look at that countdown and not at the lights.

There are several other trophies/achievements that feel almost impossible to me, like winning a championship in authentic career with the Lister Storm. But if you just want to get the trophy for winning any championship at all, then give this combo here a try.
