It's fair to say that Imperial Cult is something of a character - albeit a talented one!

The five-year-old didn't really go for a couple of previous yards but has found the winning groove with current trainers John Bridger and Rachel Cook, the father-and-daughter team managing to get three wins out of Imperial Cult from his last five starts despite making life a little trciky for them at home.

Remarkably, this horse refuses to go on the gallops and Cook and Bridger have to try and keep their mercurial character on-side and get the work into him via trips to the woods, polo pitch and other locations.

As you can see here, he sticks his neck out near the line at Epsom under a fantastically-timed ride from Gina Mangan and this equine character is one part of what makes our sport of horse racing so intriguing and fascinating, as highlighted in the post-race interview here as Cook talks to Racing TV presenter Nick Luck about the challenges of training a horse like Imperial Cult.

Congralations to Bridger and Cook on their not-so-mean feat - and we look forward to seeing where Imperial Cult might turn up next!
