1984 project by Hosono. At that time, Hosono used to spend some time in video game arcades and he had the idea of releasing a whole album of video game music. The original first album (tracks 1 to 10) was entirely arranged and supervised by him. The second one wasn't but a few tracks were arranged by Koji Ueno (a Yen label artist and leader of Guernica). Even though it might seem as if the tracks were just like random music right out of the game, each track was layered and edited precisely by Hosono. Of course, this is a lot more evident in tracks 1 and 10 (multitracking and reverb is apparent). But Hosono is credited as arranger for tracks 1 to 10, on the vinyl. A leaflet is included in the vinyl, where two writers explain a few of Hosono's ideas that led him to this album ('sound-organisation' / 'digital BGM' / 'random noize generating' / etc). For Hosono, video game music was the young japanese generation's "bubble gum music", interfacing with their everyday life in a very normal manner. The future showed that he was right…
