Days Out. Wightrider 2024 At The Isle Of Wight Bus And Coach Museum

The 12th and 13th October 2024 saw the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum's Wightrider event. There were plenty of preserved vintage and not so vintage buses and coaches running of their free route network.
This is such a popular event - probably one of the most popular in the country and there's plenty of buses and coaches to ride on. The free routes operated to East Cowes, Quarr Abbey, Isle Of Wight Donkey Sanctuary and Bembridge to name a few of them.
Aside from Wightrider, the museum is well worth a visit in it's own right. Located in Park Road in Ryde on the north coast of the island, there's all sort of vehicles from an 1880's stagecoach (no, not THAT stagecoach!) through to a more modern Dennis Dart. As you can imagine, there's also lots of Bristols too from K types to Lodekkas, VRs and REs. The National Bus Company era is also covered with immaculately restored examples of a Leyland Leopard with ECW B51 coachwork, an ECW bodied Leyland Olympian and of course a Leyland National.
