I’ll be using the 2023 JDM Metanium 100 which is basically the exact same reel as the American Metanium MGL 150 B and the 2020 JDM Metanium. While there are some slight differences in handle and spool size, the core mechanics are nearly identical, making the JDM versions a great alternative for those looking for a Metanium MGL at a cheaper price. I’ll walk you through each step of the disassembly and tuning process, sharing tips to keep your reel running smoothly with proper oil and grease and improve its casting and fishing performance.
