The IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology is a comprehensive classification framework for Earth’s ecosystems that integrates their functional and compositional features. This typology will help identify the ecosystems that are most critical for biodiversity conservation, research, management and human wellbeing into the future.
This IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology introduction was presented as a part of the Red List of Ecosystems in Action webinar held on June 29, 2021. It is presented here by José R. Ferrer-Paris of the RLE team and Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
An interactive website for the typology can be found here: https://global-ecosystems.org
