Jay Akoi retired on October 28, 2016, after working for the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii, for the past 45 years, primarily as head of the Purchasing Department. In the early part of his career, Akoi was also a PCC musician; and on the side he was a women's volleyball coach for Brigham Young University–Hawaii. Akoi was also an All-American volleyball player during his Church College of Hawaii (now BYU–Hawaii) days. (Video clips and stills by neighbor Mike Foley)
