Thom Rubel, Executive Director of the Morgan Arts Council, talks with Patty Ray Avalon, Curator of the Micro/Macro Show at the Ice House Gallery in Berkeley Springs, WV. Three Virginia artists present works in clay, encaustic and paint to provide a deeply reflective yet expansive experience of our world. Textures, weight, light and movement abound in this exhibit as micro and macro views are explored including huge canvases of galactic landscapes.

“My painting is about interpreting the cosmos, as seen from images brought to us from the great telescopes and robotic voyagers.”
Amanda Smith, Encaustic Artist, https://www.amandasmithartist.com
“Inspired by Nature's tendency to repeat itself, I am fascinated by aerial and microscopic imagery. Ever notice that the way a riverbed breaks the earth, a tree's roots dig deep, and a mineral's veins all spread out in the same pattern? Micro and macro landscapes so divinely connected…”
Kevin Crowe, Tye River Pottery, http://kevincrowepottery.com
“Kevin produces wood-fired functional stoneware with strong Asian and English roots. Kevin's pots are fired in a 450 cubic foot, 3- chamber combination anagama and noborigama kiln. The kiln is fired twice a year when the moon is right and it's not soccer season.”
