It's 7.50pm on the evening of Bank Holiday Monday the 27th of May 1996, and after a couple of trailers BBC2 settles into An Evening In With Billy Connolly.

A four hour special in three parts - after this intro there was an hour long World Tour Of Scotland, comprising the travelogue footage of his recent series. That was followed at 9pm by Billy Connolly's World Tour Of Television, a collection of 'sundry bits and pieces'. The night concluded with the World Tour Of Billy Connolly, a collection of TV interviews and concert footage dating from the mid seventies to the early nineties.

I've excluded here the bits that have been commercially available, namely the World Tour Of Scotland and World Tour Of Billy Connolly. I've split the remainder up into nine digestible chunks as follows:
