Pranesh Ramakrishnan is a sophomore at Edmond North High School in Oklahoma City, OK. Pranesh became involved in Carnatic music through vocal music at the age of 6 under Smt. Mathangi Shankar and later pursuing with Smt. Uma Sivakumar. He started Mridangam at the age of 8 under his Guru, Dr. P. Sivakumar. Pranesh has participated in the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival and other Carnatic workshops.

He had the opportunity to have his Mridangam arangetram under the guidance of his Guru, Dr. P. Sivakumar, and was blessed to accompany Sangeetha Kalanidhi Neyveli Sri. Santhanagopalan and Sangeetha Rathnakara Sri. Vittal Ramamurthy. He also actively participates in the local Hindu Temple of Oklahoma and the Indian and Tamil Associations.

Pranesh has been a part of his school orchestra since 6th grade and will be part of the Edmond North Symphonic Orchestra. Some of Pranesh’s other interests are playing tennis, spending time with friends, and learning Vedam. Pranesh was also the Oklahoma Science Bowl team captain for two years, making it to nationals. His team represented the state of Oklahoma in Washington, DC.
