Dès l'occupation de la Belgique en 1940, André Liégeois a rejoint la Compagnie C de la Brigade Piron. Ils étaient plus de 2.200 volontaires belges à s'enrôler volontairement dans cette brigade unique et à combattre aux côtés des armées alliées en Normandie, en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas.
