Roof Restaurant reopens at Joseph Smith Memorial Building after 5-year renovation

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The Roof Restaurant inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building reopens to the public after a five-year closure for a major renovation and seismic upgrades.

The dining landmark shut its doors in March 2020 as crews began extensive work throughout the historic building. Executive Chef Brian Richter said the return carries emotional weight for generations of families who have celebrated milestones there.

ARC Salt Lake's Ron Bird took the opportunity to head to the restaurant for an early look at what people can expect and what is new.

Head chef Brian Ricther discusses the new menu and the types of dining options that are available.
