For a lot of shounen series, the idea of attaining power claimed by the protagonists is obviously a fanciful one. Try as you might, you can never perform alchemy or find a Philosopher’s Stone, and no amount of concentrating on perceived spiritual pressure will allow you to achieve Bleach’s “bankai.” However, Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba funnily enough, appears to be more grounded. Powers abound yes, but all directly tied to something we’re quite familiar with—breath. But does breath contain these mystical properties? Can changing your breathing transform you into Tanjiro 2.0, artfully gliding through the air, with the grace and force of ocean waves?

The science says...maybe.
