This is a short of a longer video.
This video explores the art of the Renaissance Artist, Sandro Botticelli. He was born in Florence in the Renaissance. He worked in drawing, painting, fresco, tempera, and oil. He created large scale fresco murals. He was apprenticed in the workshops of Fra Filippo Lippi and Andrea del Verrocchio. His work is characterized by soft, flowing lines, elongate figures, light and shadow, delicate beauty, grace and attention to detail. He captured the beauty of the human form in both an idealized and realistic way. He used soft, muted tones that added to the sense of balance and harmony in his compositions. Some of his major works are Primavera, Birth of Venus, and Venus and Mars. He was influenced by the art of his contemporaries like Masaccio and Donatello. Some of his work use allegory and personification. He combined mythology, philosophy, art, and religion into captivating compositions. He illustrated the Neoplatonic ideas of the Renaissance- combining Classical mythology with Christian thought- viewing physical beauty as a reflection of divine beauty.
